I ♥ Kelly Cutrone

I absolutely love Kelly Cutrone. Outspoken, ballsy, intelligent, socially aware and totally rad - can't wait to read her new book. Check out this vid shot by A Shaded View on Fashion's Diane Pernet. We always knew who the real star of The Hills and The City was...
P.S. - Listen out for Pernet's gravely voice. What a bitchin' accessory. I wish I had one like that!

Want Some Wasson?

Model-of-the-moment and total ride Erin Wasson is now adding 'jewellery designer' to her C.V. Not content with being a muse and stylist to Alexander Wang, Wasson has launched - Low Luv X - a capsule collection of base metal rings, necklaces and bangles inspired by the Southwestern desert. Gotta love those chunky scarab-adorned knuckle rings and crucifix necklaces. Totally waiting-list worthy. Gush!

Get a piece of Wasson now at My-wardrobe.com.

I Perv Shoes

I hate perving on things I can't afford. It's soooo frustrating. I will however make an exception for these Aticoma wedge ankle boots from Acne. Alexa Chung has already been seen sporting a pair (but of course) as has the unlikely style-phile Herman Munster. Jaysus that fella was on the ball! How gorge would these be with an asymmetric LBD. Lushness.

Get your pair now @ My-wardrobe.com or direct @ Acnestudios.com.

Digging Digby & Iona

I'm seriously digging Digby & Iona at the moment. Apart from the fact that they are yet ANOTHER rad jeweller from Brooklyn (can that town get any hipper?); they make the narliest knuckle dusters! I'm loving this 'Black Spot Two Finger' creation ($220) which can be customised to suit your finger size. Fierce in the good kinda way!

Check out my fellow New Yorkers @ www.digbyandiona.com or pop into Dublin's Loulerie boutique for your retail fix.

Slogan Tights

First there were slogan tees; now there are slogan tights. It appears Henry Holland, master of Cockney rhyming slang, has taken his cheeky epithets to lower levels - the legs that is. His 'Wanna Party' tights for Pretty Polly do exactly what they say on the packet and wil no doubt get you noticed. Just make sure you wear them with purpose and not slip them on mistakenly for a job interview, baptism, double date... More importantly, never wear these on the Tube.

I Blog Fashion Does Sales

Loving my new shoes. Only €30 in the Topshop sale and utterly SS10-worthy. Flat sole - tick. Brogue style - tick. Nude - kinda sorta? O.K. maybe copper metallic isn't quite the hue du jour but I think I can get away with it - especially with my roll up jeans. After all, pale isn't always that interesting. I'll keep schtum if you do...

Talent for Haiti

An online auction has been organised by designers Eilis Boyle and Helen James to raise as much funds as possible for the Haitian relief efforts. All proceeds (minus eBay and PayPal fees) will be donated to Medecins sans Frontieres. Donations are being accepted at Bow Boutique in Dublin's Powerscourt Town Centre (01 604 0044) before Tues, Jan 26th. Bidding starts on Thurs, Jan 28th. I'll be donating a Paul & Joe jacket, a Quinn & Donnelly dress and other items. Please give or bid generously. xx

I Blog Fashion & Love Ray Bans

I was gifted a pair of Ray Bans the other day and have since been prancing around Dublin like a would-be celebrity. Peering into every reflective surface, including the bread bin to the right, I'm likely to give Narcissus a run for his vainglorious money. You see, these are the first sunnies I've encountered that DON'T sit crooked on my nose. My vintage Pop glasses always need a little nudge, as do the Zara aviators which slide down the bridge of my nose. What I also like about these tortiseshell beauties is their width - decent coverage without looking oversized in manner of disturbing clown. Loving it²!

Closet Clean-outs and Seasonless Style

Into all of our lives a little clutter must fall, more often than not it tends to reside in our wardrobes. This January, tune into The Afternoon Show on RTE1 where I'll be detoxing the country's closets each Tuesday from 4 pm. I'm a huge fan of purging my unwanted purchases - if only to replace them with new ones! With my new year's ressie to silence my inner trend whore, I recently did a pre-Christmas cull of 'what was I thinking' impulse buys and sold them on eBay. Instead, I'm committing my closet to the mantra of 'seasonless style'. Check out this Isabella Oliver 'Roma' frock I'm wearing. Lovely draping, great length . Slip it on and 'BAM!' - instantly dressed. More to the point, it not-so-secretly gives you insta-boobs! Serious bonus points! Me likey...a lot!

Babette Epaulette

I'm obsessing majorly of late about concept accessories. Knuckle dusters, head dresses and bitchin' neck pieces (see: Mono Clothing) have been filling my reverie to the point of absolute distraction. To add Bathsheba to bijou, my resolve has been further challenged by the prurient Babette Epaulette. Worn on the rise of the shoulder and harnessed around the upper torso in fringe, feather, leather, chain and spikes, these babies are going to be my undoing. Wear 'em over bare skin , a tank, jacket or cardigan and - KERPOW! - insta street cred! What's more, designer, Seville Michelle Anastos is from Queens. Big love to my fellow New Yorkers. You rule!

ELEGANCE, GLAMOUR AND LUXURY SOUGHT AT THE HENNESSY GOLD CUP BEST DRESSED 2010

Philip Treacy in conjunction with the Design Centre Announced as Judge at the Hennessy Gold Cup Best Dressed Lady 2010

The fashion stakes are set to be higher than ever, when legendary Irish milliner Philip Treacy, in conjunction with the Design Centre, will be on hand the Hennessy Gold Cup Best Dressed on Sunday 7th February 2010, when Ireland's most glamorous ladies will demonstrate the ultimate in style and elegance in the hope of walking away with the grand prize of €4,000 for the Hennessy Gold Cup Best Dressed, in association with The Design Centre.

The sporting and social highlight of the racing calendar, The Hennessy Best Dressed recognises style in its truest form, distinguishing those with inherent elegance, originality and vibrancy. This year marks the 4th year of the hugely successful Hennessy Best Dressed, in association with the Design Centre and significantly marks the 20th running of the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown Racecourse.

The winning lady will be presented with a €4,000 voucher from The Design Centre, in the Powerscourt Centre and one lucky runner-up will receive a voucher for €1,000 from the fashion house that boasts collections from established and up-and-coming Irish and international designers including, John Rocha, Preen, Ben De Lisi, Synan O‘Mahony and John McCormack.

Judging criteria for the Hennessy Best Dressed, in association with The Design Centre will include the appropriateness of outfits for daytime winter racing, as well as the consistency and harmony of style throughout the entire outfit. Headwear and outerwear (coat/fur/stole) will be mandatory on the day and, above all else, the demonstration of an appreciation of elegance, glamour and luxury will be of paramount importance in the judging process.

For the first time ever this year, and due to the popular demand, stylish ladies are invited to pre-register for the Hennessy Best Dressed in association with the Design Centre at www.hennessybestdressed.ie. Alternatively, registration will also take place on the day in the Tote Hall at the venue.

On the day, a shortlist of 20 stylish ladies will be selected to join judges Philip Treacy, Annmarie O’Connor, fashion blogger and stylist, Ashling Kilduff, The Design Centre and Caroline Sleiman of Hennessy to describe and discuss their respective outfits. A final decision will be made collectively by the judges whereby one winner and two runners-up are selected.

Richard Hennessy left his native Cork in 1765 to sail to France where he founded the world’s leading Cognac house. The number one Cognac in Ireland, Hennessy embraces the loves of Irish people and has always been a huge supporter of racing in this country - indeed the Hennessy Gold Cup is the longest standing race sponsorship at Leopardstown racecourse.

Mono Clothing

I'm having a love affair with Canadian designers at the moment. Last month was Complex Geometries; this month - Mono. Mono is a succession of capsule series and projects which attempt to explore the spaces between art, craft, design and fashion while challenging the complacency within the fashion ideal. Much like Complex Geometries, each piece is like origami art, allowing the wearer manifold fashion possibilities. Clean and structured tailoring (very Comme des Garcons) married with modern architecture = Style² .
It's love folks....

P.S. Mono winter sale is now on. Warning - if you nab that leather collar before me, we won't be on speaking terms. Seriously.

Richard Nicoll - My Mr. Motivator

I'm very much looking forward to Monday morning. While you may consider me odd with it being the first post-holiday work day but I've got quite the motivator. My Richard Nicoll shirt dress is due to arrive in the morning post - a little something I got for next to nothing in the January sales. Mine is in winter white - super cute with grey or black opaques and shoe boots; not to mention the perfect segue garment for SS10. I'm loving the strong tailoring and sharp shirting - hallmaks of this Brit's burgeoning design talent. Snow, icy roads, 10,000 emails? Bring it on...

Camilla Skovgaard

The 'big freeze' that has befallen our mild and misty isle is wrecking havoc with my wardrobe choices. Unused to such Baltic conditions, I've taken to wearing my sister's climbing boots to avoid slipping and breaking a leg in my leopard print booties which have no ice grips and are potentially lethal. But of course...
That's when I actually venture outside. New Year's Eve saw me pushing the cab out of a snow bank in 5-inch heels after it skidded off the road. Thankfully there were no witnesses. With this 'winter wonderland' due to hang about for while longer, it's made me consider better boots. I'm thinking these Camilla Skovgaard 'tread' beauties will do the job quite nicely: uber chic with a grip as tight as a gaggle of broads at a Balmain sample sale. Nice one.

Created Equal

Seeing how we're all snowed in going nowhere, there's never been a better excuse to curl up with a good book. Digital culture spies - Flavorpill.com - have certainly done their homework in recommending Mark Laita's photo compendium 'Created Equal'. In photographing archetypes across forty-eight states over eight years, Laita has created an amusing series of juxtapositions whilst challenging the American melting pot. Catholic nuns and prostitutes, Amish and punk teens, pimps and polygamists, chain gangs and cheerleading squads - it's all there and worth a peek.
